Co-authors of the New York Times Bestseller book, Indianapolis, Lynn Vincent and Sara Vladic are widely known for their passion to share “The true story of the worst sea disaster in US naval history and the fifty-year fight to exonerate an innocent man.”
Approximately 20 FC students were invited to participate in a special assembly put on by the Fresno County Office of Education. In connection with the 100th annual Fresno Veterans Day Parade, these two historians were brought to Sunnyside High sharing their journey to publish this epic historical tale.
Sara Vladic became interested with film making at age six, later acquiring a passion for truth behind the USS Indianapolis event. With little of the Indianapolis’ story known to the world, Vladic knew she had to find a way to share this with people.
Reaching out to Lynn Vincent in hopes to seek help from a well known author, they soon found themselves sitting down together to write this true story.
Vincent is the #1 New York Times best-selling writer of eleven nonfiction books. With a background in the U.S. Navy, Vincent had prayed she would get the opportunity to write a book with a story she could connect with. While on active duty with the U.S. Navy, she served during Operations Desert Shield and Desert Storm.
Vincent has written numerous highly acclaimed books including, Same Kind of Different as Me and Heaven is for Real.
In 2016, Vladic released an award-winning documentary film on the disaster, USS Indianapolis: The Legacy.
