Hume Lake kicks off the new year with the theme, “Grublandia, the Gastronomic Tale of the Good and the Greasy”. For weekend of Jan. 10-12, 740 students from 16 Fresno churches gather for “Fresno United”.
Speaker, Robert Watson, preaches about the prodigal son and how some of us have walked away and God has brought us back.
Watson used demonstrations by showing how God is love, wisdom, truth and blessing. He explained how sometimes we run from God towards hate, foolishness and lies. Another example was traps, which represented how the lies of the world trap us in sinful ways as we give in.
During worship, the band, The Eagle and Child, perform, “I want to know”, which became the theme song. Throughout the weekend, the band used a saxophone, electric guitar, and other instruments to create a unique, rock like worship.
During the weekend camp, students can entertain themselves with many activities such as broom hockey, box sled blitz, tube run, O.K. Chalet, snowboarding, sledding, ice skating, an escape room along with coffee and snack shops.
Hume winter camp is hosting churches from all over for the next 7 weeks. If you didn’t get the opportunity to go already, you still have time. If interested in attending winter camp at Hume, visit Winter Camp – Hume Ministries.
