The boys varsity basketball team defeated Fowler, 61-57, in the second annual Road to Selland Showcase, Jan. 25.
Traveling from all over the Central Section from Divisions I-V, 16 teams headed to Fresno Christian to compete in the showcase. The showcase lasted all day with the first game at 9 a.m., with the Eagles playing in the last game at 8 p.m.
The Eagles starting line up consisted of Ty Coffman, ’20, Bryson Graham, ’21, Carston Saelzler, ’21, Tyus Parrish Tillman, ’22, and Orion Tomlinson, ’22. After a long battle, the Eagles pushed out a win against Fowler, making their current record 17-5.
Parrish Tillman led the team in points by scoring 22 points and was named “Player of the Game” along with Tomlinson. Make sure to congratulate to Parrish Tillman, Tomlinson and the boys varsity basketball team for their success this weekend!
Parlier and McLane will got the day started at 9 a.m. with games scheduled roughly every 90 minutes.* Local Fresno sports personality, Nick Papagni as The Pagmeter, sponsored the showcase and his Central Valley High School Sports Connection.
This the second time athletic director Jon Penberthy has put together this event.
“The goal was to put some of the best teams across all five divisions from Bakersfield to the coast and back to Fresno,” Penberthy said. “This is a great day to see many of the top teams from across the Central Section compete here in Fresno. It’s going to be a great day for a local high school basketball fan.”

Of the 16 teams scheduled to play, six are ranked in the top 30 via MaxPreps in Central Section basketball highlighted by St. Joseph (No. 5), Chavez (No. 15) and Roosevelt (No. 18) and Hoover (No. 23).
The next basketball games will be at home against Laton, Jan. 28. JV begins at 4:30 p.m., girls at 5:30 p.m. and varsity at 7 p.m. Make sure to head out and support your Eagles!
