Winter guard wins first place

Fresno Christian color guard wins first place in the high school Scholastic Regional A Bronze division, Feb. 1. Traveling to Lemoore high school, the team competed in the South Valley Winter Arts Association (SVWAA) during their winter guard season.

Rehearsing every first period and with practices after school, color guard continues to win awards including, 1st place at the Sierra Cup Winter Guard Invitational, Disneyland, and two 3rd places at the old SJVCGPR circuit.

Senior Shauna Howard explains her favorite part about being involved in color guard.

“Winter guard competitions are so much fun,” Howard said. “I love competing and being able to watch other guards compete as well. Im excited for the show that we will be performing in this year. But, that this will be my last year competing.”

Coach Michelle Rodriguez continues to coach the team for the 5th year. Overall she has coached for eight years. Rodriguez loves to watch her students push themselves more each week and grow as individuals.
