Leading the 2019-20 cheer squad as captains, seniors Danielle Foster, Kayden Marquez and junior Morgan Parker aspire to lead with encouragement and drive for the sport.
Finding passion for cheer in the 7th grade, Parker shares her inspiration for joining the team.
“I joined cheer because I had previously done gymnastics and wanted to use my skills for something and try out cheer which my sister had done,” Parker said. “After trying out I found passion for the sport and now as a captain I strive to lead the team by being a good example and encouraging them to be the best they can be.”
Participating in FC cheer clinics since the first grade, senior captain Marquez hopes to lead the team in a positive way.
“In order to lead people you have to be able to do it yourself,” Marquez explains. “Being a captain has strived to make me a better person and a better athlete, not only for myself but for my team. These girls have accomplished so much and have come so far, not only on the mat but as a person.”
Foster first joined cheer in the 9th grade and since then has grown to love the sport.
“My favorite part of cheer for the last four years has been getting to be a family with every girl on the team,” Foster said. “I love getting to know all of them and having 23 other sisters.”
Over the years on the FC cheer team, these captains have led their team to earning superior rating for 1st in their division at the Clovis West Showcase.
