When I look back on the past two years, my greatest memories come from moments while on The Feather, Feb. 27. Starting my junior year with no writing or camera experience, I timidly began learning the ropes of what it takes to be a photojournalist.
Fighting through self doubt, I eventually learned how to be confident behind a lens and how to capture a moment with my photos. When I look back on my articles from when I first joined to my articles now, I see completely different writing styles.
The Feather has given me opportunities that I never thought I would get. From traveling on the CV Honor Flight with 68 Vietnam veterans to flying in a hot air balloon, these hands on experiences gave me the opportunity to craft my photography and writing style.
If I could give one piece of advice to students starting high school at Fresno Christian, it would be to join The Feather as it has taught me how to photograph in any situation or lighting, and taught me how to transform my images into stories. The Feather has been my second family for two years now and I am incredibly grateful for everything it has given me.
