Junior Jacob Hyatt breaks the Fresno Christian record for high jump by jumping 6’6 in his first track competition of the season, Feb. 29.
Hyatt first started high jump when he joined track in fifth grade at Maple Creek. During his sophomore season, Hyatt tied the record of 6’2 with Josiah Ford.
Heading into the Central Valley Relays at Dinuba High School, Hyatt’s adrenaline pushed him to jump his highest jump yet.
Hyatt explains his feeling when he knew he broke the record last month.
“It felt amazing to break the record,” Hyatt said. “I have looked forward to breaking that record since my freshman year and to finally be able to break it felt great!”
Hyatt is currently 2nd in the Central Section, 4th in the state and tied for 18th in the country for this jump.
Make sure to congratulate Hyatt for breaking the school record for high jump at the Redcat Relays at Fowler HS, March 7! For meets, dates, locations and times, visit the 2020 HS Track & Field Schedule on the fresnochristian.com website.
