After five months of preparation, Spotlight Productions presented Disney’s Newsies, The Broadway Musical, to the Fresno Christian community Feb. 27-29.
Over 55 students from the FC drama and music departments participated, many of whom took part in tap dance classes as an extra skill needed for the production. Along with dance choreography, vocal performances stared seniors Colton Allen, Nicole Wagoner, Zeke Fuller and Shauna Howard along with David Tuck,’22, and Zachary Paredes, ’28.
First-year drama teacher Megan Conner instructs the class and teaches the choreography for the play. Her partnership with Valley Teen Ranch brought awareness to the teen ministry as they helped serve during the dinner show on the last day.
Selling out the first two shows convinced Conner to add a third night. All three shows were a sell out with many tickets more in demand. The dinner show, Feb. 29, complete with full service and catered dinner by Angel Trevino, was the talk of the campus community.
Looking forward to what Spotlight Productions brings next. Please share your experiences about the campus production in the comment section below.
