Today should mark the 33rd annual Kids Day, but due to the recent events of the rapid spread of the COVID-19 , AKA coronavirus, Kids Day 2020 has been cancelled but instead will be a digital day, March 10.
Beginning in 1988, Valley Children’s Hospital has partnered with The Fresno Bee to publish a special edition newspaper bringing all proceeds to the hospital. In its entirety, over $9.2 million has been raised to benefit the hospital.
Last year, over 8,000 total volunteers braved the cold weather selling newspapers all over Fresno county raising approximately $634, 000. Fresno Christian leadership students usually begin their morning at 3:30 a.m. with Feather students joining at 5 a.m. The FCS community raised $2,181 last March.
According to Valley Children’s Hospital this years cancellation is in the best interest of the community.
“After careful consideration and out of an abundance of caution, this year’s Kids Day will be cancelled in order to protect the health and safety of the more than 8,000 volunteers who signed up to participate and the tens of thousands of generous Valley residents who buy the special edition Fresno Bee sold on street corners from one end of the Valley to the other.”
You won’t see ‘Kids Day’ newspapers on street corners Tuesday. Here’s a way to still donate https://t.co/i52xoklYpg

Street corners may not have volunteers collecting your donations, but you can still donate. Valley Children’s is providing different methods to raise funds for the children in lieu of the traditional Kids Day.
Two ways you can donate:
