Because of the current shelter in place order, the 85th annual NFL (National Football League) Draft was hosted over video chat, April 23-25.
In previous years, the draft has been held in various theaters, stadiums and hotels around the country. Due to the coronavirus spread, the draft for the 202o season was the first since 1936 to not be held in person.
Head coaches and general managers from all 32 teams video chatted from their homes as they waited to announce their pick. The order of picks was based on their performance from the previous season.
Beginning the 2020 draft, the Cincinnati Bengals selected Joe Burrow, a quarterback from LSU (Louisiana State University). After three days, the draft finished with 255 drafts in 7 rounds.
Even though players from across the country were drafted, two local athletes from Fresno State were drafted as well. The Atlanta Falcons drafted Mykal Walker in the fourth round and the Denver Broncos drafted Netane Muti in the sixth round.
Congratulations to all athletes that were drafted in the 2020 NFL Draft!
