FC girls softball team defeats Riverdale, 7-4, April 18.
After loosing to Riverdale earlier in the week, Eagles come back for redemption.
Riverdale began to lead the game, 3-2, in the first inning. Continuing the game, Eagles scored three points in the third inning to get in front of Riverdale. As the game comes to a close Eagles score two more points to secure their victory and redeem themselves.
Seniors, Rachel Martin and Kegan Brunnemann were the star players against Riverdale. Brunnemann hit a triple helping bring in two girls who were on base. Martin hit a homerun giving the Eagles the last points they needed to win the game.
Freshman, Jane Higton, is new to the softball team this year and talks about how Rachel Martin and Kegan Brunnemann’s hitting has been very beneficial to the team.
“Rachel and Kegan were probably our teams biggest assets on the hitting side.” Higton said, “When our team got behind I always knew we could count on them to get on base for the most part. Their big hits come in clutch quite a bit in tough games.”
