The Fresno Christian boys tennis team wins Valley Championships! The Eagles defeat the Rough Riders in CIF Central Valley Division IV Championships, May 9.
After winning championships last year, hopes were high for this season. They accomplished this dream and became back-to-back champions after winning two singles and three doubles.
Tyler Maxey, ‘25, won his match against Roosevelt. The first set, he won, 6-1, and the second set, 6-0. Maxey believed his team deserved this championship.
“We only lost to the D1 champions and runner ups. We put in a lot of work over the off season and season, and we took every opponent seriously, and we were prepared for every challenge that came our way,” Maxey said.
Bek Jett, ‘25, won his singles match, 6-1, 6-3. He also won doubles with Jacob Pimentel 6-0, 6-2.
“I would say it was really nice to win and go back to back. I don’t have much to say about the winning point as it wasn’t a really hard fought match,” Jett said.
The reigning champions are aiming to advance out of Division IV and start playing in Division III.
