Junior Matthew Tacchino is back with the Fresno Christian Eaglecast and continues to bring the community meaningful conversations with students and staff members in this recurring podcast series. Join us as we dive into the lives and complexities of the familiar personalities on this campus. For his next student interview, Tacchino has chosen math teacher Kristina Breshears.

Kristina Breshears has been teaching at Fresno Christian since the fall of 2015, where she began teaching high school and middle school mathematics part time. However This wasn’t her first time in a classroom. She taught in the San Diego area and in the Central Unified School District. Breshears grew up in Southern California, where she experienced some of the best weather California has to offer. Which is quite the adjustment for her.
When asked about her favorite part of growing up in the San Diego area, she said definitely the weather.
“Having access to the beach and sand every day was amazing,” Breshears said. “There was one summer where me and my friends made an effort to end every day with our feet on the sand.”
After graduating from Carlsbad High School, Breshears attended Concordia University, where she met her husband and got married in between her sophomore and junior years. “Being married in college was an interesting choice,” Breshears said. “There were definitely some very tight months but the Lord was always faithful to us.”
She also mentioned she often gets asked why she left the tropical weather of her hometown and moved to Fresno.
“My husband and I just felt like God was calling us here,” Breshears said. “We prayed about it so much but it was definitely one of those things where you just have to trust God.”
After moving up north to Fresno, Breshears taught at Central East High School for seven years, before taking time off to raise her three kids: Camden, Zoe, and Avery. Breshears was then offered a part-time position at FC, where she got to teach first and second period, then head home.

“I could wake up before the kids and get everything done, but still be home in time for lunch,” Breshears said.
She values time with her family greatly and has always been grateful for FC being so understanding.
Breshears plans to continue teaching at Fresno Christian for the foreseeable future and is happy to be right by her children every day. She hopes to continue to brighten the days and lives of every student she teaches, and exemplify the Lord through all of her lesson plans.
