Fresno Christian students and staff gather to celebrate the annual all-school chapel for National Day of Prayer, May 1.
Middle school worship team kicked off chapel, singing ‘I Thank God.’ The high school worship team led the rest of the chapel in worship, singing ‘O Praise the Name (Anástasis), ‘Holy Forever’ and ‘Praise.’
Senior Zoe Blanchfield has been on the worship team for all four years of high school and shares how she felt leading worship for the last time in this special chapel.
“As sad as it is that this is one of the last chapels that I will get to lead worship at, I’m so excited that I get to lead worship for the last time with the school together as a whole” Blanchfield said. “Leading worship has been a very special experience over the years, and this is definitely one of the biggest highlights I’ve gotten the chance to experience!”
To continue on the National Day of Prayer, staff chose four students to pray over families, our school, our city and other schools.
Two students were elementary students, Leann Bedasci and Carter Merril. The other two students were middle school student, Preston Matthews, and high school student, Emma Lien.
Senior Emma Lien has been going to Fresno Christian for four years. Lien shares why she thinks it’s important to gather together to pray as a community.
“Praying as a community is important because it reminds us of our unity in the body of Christ,” Lien said. “James 5 says that the prayer of a righteous person has power, and by coming together as community, we are reminded of the all powerful creator that we serve and get to come to in prayer together. ”
