The 35th annual FC homecoming week is underway, Sept. 30-Oct. 4. The Feather would like to introduce this year’s senior court nominees with a series of ‘Get to Know You’ questions.
Seniors were paired up to highlight a popular board game, a part of the 2019’s theme. Today’s couple is Macy Little and Jason Olson and the board game they represent is Battleship.
This year’s theme, ‘Homecoming Game On’, will be held at 6:30 p.m., Oct. 4. Campus student leadership has chosen to support the Pregnancy Care Center, Fresno, as the local non-profit who will benefit from funds raised during homecoming night.
Created in the 1900’s at the end of World War I, Battleship was not always played as a board game, but started as the “pencil and paper game”. But, in 1967 Milton Bradley created the game into a board game. Instead of a paper grid and a pen, a plastic grid with holes and pegs took their place. This two player game, includes each player receiving five different shaped ships and arranges them on their own plastic grid. While the other individual guesses where the ships are located, the pegs come into play to record each prestigious guess. If a guess was made on one of the ship then the opponent will say, “hit” and if it is not then the player will say, “miss”. Throughout the years, different variations have been made as well as updates to the game.
