As the holidays approach, opportunities around the world are offering ways for people to give back. One of which is the Samaritan’s Purse, Operation Christmas Child Box.
Operation Christmas Child (OCC) is an international organization project for Samaritan’s Purse. The organization sends gift boxes filled with toys and essentials to kids all around the world who are affected by war, poverty, natural disasters, famine and disease. OCC is designed to demonstrate Gods love to children in need all around the world.
Student Alexis Baker, ‘21, shares why people should participate in this generosity.
“It’s important to give back to others and spread love to those around,” Baker said. “My family does a lot during the holidays. We are very blessed, so being able to bless others through Operation Christmas Child feels great.”
Baker and her family participate in making many OCC boxes, as well as giving them to kids in Juvenile Hall.
Fresno Christian students, K-12, will be sending their collected boxes off Nov. 18 after elementary chapel. Gathering together for a special prayer the boxes will be loaded with the help of retired campus kindergarten teacher, Amy Witters and her husband.
The following video made by Wesley Hinton, ‘20, shows what to include in the shoe box packed along with a brief history of the organization.
Thank you to all who donated a OCC box this year.
