Happy National Fast Food Day, Nov. 16! A fast food restaurant is a mass production of food served quickly with little preparation. Whether it’s fries, hamburgers, or tacos most offerings are prepared before hand and are available within minutes.
The term ‘fast food’ was originated from a fish and chip shop located in Great Britain in the 1860s. Then, in the 1950s a drive-through was added to many ‘fast food’ chains in the United States. For customers to quickly grab food on the go while still in the comfort of their own car became normal.
The main factor of a fast food restaurant is the assembly line. While some may say McDonalds started the assembly line, others believe White Castle began the assembly line earlier. An assembly line makes the preparation easy and quick.
According to the 2019 American Customer Satisfaction Index, one of the most popular fast food restaurant in the US is Chick-fil-a for the fourth year in a row.
