The Great Kindness challenge begins this week, Jan. 28. During this challenge families and schools have the opportunity to complete random acts of kindness. There is a free kindness challenge checklist can be found at the Great Kindness Challenge website to make it easier for everyone to spread kindness. Over 24 thousand schools participate in the challenge.
The GKC helps prevent bullying within schools and engages students and faculty to spread kindness. This week is devoted to simply doing as many random acts of kindness as possible. This improves the climate and environment of the school.
Senior Kayla Vanderlinden shares why she think the GKC is a great opportunity for kindness to be spread.
“I think this week is an awesome opportunity to spread kindness to those around you even if you do not know them to well,” Vanderlinden said. “Bullying is very big problem in schools these days and I think this week is refreshing for us all to give back and prevent something that is so hurtful. One random act of kindness I will be doing is to compliment those around me. It is very simple but makes such an impact in your day.”
Not only can you do something as simple as a compliment but the Great Kindness Challenge also receive donations to help continue this challenge. You can donate at thegreatkindnesschallenge.com.
