Christian Living continues to learn about different religions since the beginning of the semester, Feb. 4. Bible teacher, Aubri Foster teaches her students about the beliefs, major focuses, and the differences of Christianity. Religions include, Deism, New Spirituality, and Existentialism.
Foster shares why she thinks it is important for high school students to be exposed to different religions.
“It is important for our students at FCS to have a foundational understanding of a Christocentric worldview,” Foster said. “It is important to be able to compare and contrast different schools of thought so that truth is not relative, rather based on experience and knowledge.”
Foster continues to share why she enjoys teaching this unit.
“I love teaching this unit because it allows for us to ask questions, seek answers, and understand how great God is,” Foster continues. It’s hard not to cling to the truth and hope of the gospel after learning about how many throughout history have tried to understand and explain meaning and purpose without him.”
Students either watch a movie, listen to a lecture or fill out a worksheet to help them learn more about the current religion. Over 10 religions will be covered during this unit. At the end of the semester, the students will be tested on all of the religions taught. They will be able to use their notes that they took during the unit and only three helps from Foster.
