Fresno Christian girls soccer honors their seven seniors – Serenity Cortez, Miracle Neal, Emma Connolly, Jenna Obwald, Grace LaCroix, Kegan Brunnemann, and Tatum Awau – before their first round Division 4 playoff game, Feb. 13.
Eagles went undefeated throughout league and ended as league champions after beating Chowchilla (8-0). Going into playoffs, the team was ranked number one in Central Section D5.
After a hard fight, FC Eagles are defeated by the Templeton Eagles 2-2, after double overtime and penalty kicks.
Senior Serenity Cortez has been on the team for all four years and also played on the FC junior high team as well. Cortez shares about her experience.
“It was an amazing experience being able to pour into the underclassman as a senior on the team this year,” Cortez said. “The seniors on the team have always been very close, so its been so nice being able to grow with them over the last few years.”
Assistant coach Kyndel Carrington was a new addition to the coaching staff this year. Carrington was a former soccer player for The Masters University for four years. Carrington talks about what it was like coaching the seniors this year.
“The seniors this year were such an amazing group of girls to be able to coach,” Carrington said. “They always made practices fun, and they always grind until the end of each and every game. This team wouldn’t have been the same without each of them, and I’m so thankful I got to watch them all grow as players and as women of God this season.”
