College search in motion

By November most seniors are get apprehensive about post-graduation. Some know exactly where they want to attend and what they want to study. However, the majority is still unsure of what their future education will look like.

To help relieve some stress, Jon Endicott, associate principal, invites representatives from about 20 colleges from all over the country to come and answer any questions the students may have.

?The closer the end of the semester gets, the more worried I get about college,? Jason Damm, ?06, said. ?But, its nice to have the college reps come and tell us about each school, that way I can narrow down my choices without having to do a lot of research.?

In case students are still unsure of what they should be doing, even more help is being offered.

?Right now seniors need to be working on applications, because the deadlines for most colleges are at the end of November,? Endicott, said. ?I will be hosting an application workshop on Nov. 15 at 7 p.m. in the J.J. room to help students fill them out, show them how to get references, and give a few more helpful tips.?

While some students get more uneasy as the end of November rapidly approaches, some do not feel the need to worry because they have been dead set on one school almost their whole lives.

?I have wanted to attend Point Loma in San Diego since I can remember,? Katrina Stevenson, ?06, said. ?I want to double major in business and marketing, and they have a great program for those majors. Best of all though, is the beautiful view of the ocean and surfing whenever I want.?

For the students that have not yet decided where they wish to attend, or do not have enough motivation to start the application process, there still is hope. The majority of private schools are accepting applications till the end of November, and most California State schools through February. So do not fret.
