Did you know…No.1

Did you know...No.1
[/media-credit] Addison Schultz sells her art work at the Lydia and Pearl Market, Dec. 8.

Photojournalist Megan LeBlanc began the series, “Did you know…?” as a way to highlight the passions and skills of Fresno Christian students.

Did you know…Addison Schultz

Balancing editor in chief for The Feather Online and playing on the varsity volleyball team, junior Addison Schultz spends her free time building her own calligraphy business, Oct. 31.

Developing a love for cursive in the fourth grade, Schultz started practicing her calligraphy skills by copying fonts seen online. She explains how this new interest in calligraphy became and her favorite element about her writing.

“I’ve always loved writing in cursive and writing fancy, even when I was little,” Schultz said. “My favorite thing about doing calligraphy is the ease and slowness of it. Once you find your style, it is so fun to doodle and play around with my letters. It really helps me to express my creative and enjoy something that is not so much pressure.”

At first, the idea of selling her work was nerve-racking because she did not know what people would think about it. Through the support of her family and friends, Schultz was able to start an Instagram account and attend boutiques where she could sell her art. Now people continue to buy her work and support her business.

Most popular items sold are watercolor portraits, greeting cards and holiday boutique items. Customized pieces such as wedding/formal event signage, picture frames and home decor require a special order sent directly to Schultz.

If you want to contact Schultz about her business or to purchase an item from her, you can direct message her on Instagram at art_by_addi or you can email her at [email protected].
