Christmas traditions

[/media-credit] Fresno Christian students share their favorite Christmas traditions, Dec. 4.

With 21 days till Christmas, the weather begins to change and families begin to decorate their houses, lighting up the city, Dec. 5. Traditions are a big part of Christmas.

Every family has different traditions that are special in different ways to them. The holidays would not be the same without them. Whether that is decorating the tree together or walking down Christmas Tree Lane hand in hand, add to The Feather post and share your traditions in the comments below.

In order to get the conversation started, the following Fresno Christian students share their favorite Christmas traditions.

Senior Kayla Vanderlinden shares what traditions her family participates in during Christmas.

“My favorite Christmas tradition that me and my family do every year is one Christmas Eve, we always go out to dinner and get to open one present,” Vanderlinden said. “We have had this tradition for as long as I can remember. The holidays would feel different without our traditions and they also get us in the mood Christmas day.”

Junior Carston Saelzler describes a tradition his family does on Christmas Eve.

“One Christmas tradition we do every year as a family is a Christmas Eve pajama hunt,” Saelzler said. “My mom hides pajamas while my brother and I are in a separate room. Then we hunt for the pajamas and wear them that night and wake up the next morning for Christmas. I would feel pretty sad without the pajamas and Christmas would not feel the same.”

Sophomore Ainsley Thompson shares one of her favorite tradition during the Christmas season.

“Every year all the girls in my whole family get together and bake cookies and sweets all day and then have a tea party brunch,” Thompson said. “We’ve had this tradition for as long as I can remember. I like this tradition because I get to spend the whole day with my family and get to bond and laugh together. Without this tradition I would not feel as close with family.”

Freshman Nick Funk shares a tradition him and his family do every Christmas.

“A Christmas tradition that we do is called the “Funky Talent Show”, Funk said. “My family does this every year on Christmas Eve. We basically dance and sing to Christmas music. It gets really funny. We have done this since I was about five years old. The things I like about this tradition is that we come together as one family and make one another laugh. We just have a great time.”
