Mike Cirricione speaks about anxiety in the average teenage life

Pastor at The Well Community Church, Mike Cirricione, preaches about anxiety and depression in Fresno Christian’s chapel, March 3.

Cirricione uses Philippians to remind teens to cast anxiety on the Lord. “Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.” Philippians 4: 6-7.

“We live in a broken world, our culture assigns value based off of performance, but God assigns value based off of love”, Cirricione said. “You have value just because of who you are not what you are.”

He encourages students to lay all anxiety and depression at the feet of Jesus. He talks about how God’s word is not unheard and we should listen to him through everything.

One of his main points was to ensure students that they are not alone and that others go through the same thing. A majority of high school students on campus deal with anxiety and Cirricione wanted to ensure the community that you are never alone.

Facts shared during chapel:

-96% of people feel anxious

-70% of teens say anxiety and depression is a big deal

-26% say it’s minor

-55% of teens say bullying is a problem

-Teens deal with body image and social media along with the judgement of others
