The Bridge of San Luis Rey

[/media-credit] The Bridge of San Luis Rey was published 1927.

Andrea Donaghe’s English 12 class begins to read ‘The Bridge of San Luis Rey’ written by Thornton Wilder, March 5. The true story portrays the lives of five individuals who were involved in a traumatic accident killing all five of them.

The novel tells the story of the bridge of San Luis Rey in Peru collapsing out of no where. The background of each person is told along with how they ended up on the bridge along with why they were the ones who died at that specific time. The victims of this tragedy include Doña Maria, Pepita, Esteban, Uncle Pio, and Jamie.

Brother Juniper, a Limean friar witnessed the bridge collapse and is determined to prove that this catastrophe was an act of God and why God specifically chose those five people. The narrator is not revealed. The students answer question after reading each chapter along with a character chart.
