For the 2022-23 school year, students are once again able to experience and attend college fairs in person. The fall of 2019 was the last college fair season where students did not have to worry about navigating virtual college fairs and getting confused with numerous links.
Many universities and colleges have been cleared to return back to high schools and middle schools to host presentations, workshops, and lunch visits. The class of 2023 is highly encouraged to take advantage of these opportunities since the previous graduating classes did not have the in person experience due to the pandemic.
Fresno County has already hosted two in person college fairs for middle school, high school, and transfer students. The first one was the Fresno Area College Night in downtown Fresno that was held on September 14. Before the pandemic this was a yearly college fair where UCs, CSUs, private schools, and community colleges all come together to one location for one night only in Fresno.
The second college fair was the Fresno CSU night that was held at the Clovis Veterans Memorial District. This night was dedicated to students who were specifically only interested in attending a California State University. All 23 CSUs were represented where they hosted their own table and provided presentations for financial aid.
These college fairs are not only beneficial to students but parents as well. They are both able to be informed about the application process, programs, and most importantly tuition and scholarships offered. It’s important that students attend these events to connect and network with the representatives who will potentially be the ones who review their applications.
Any student who has yet to attend a college fair this year has one more opportunity in Fresno. On Tuesday, October 4, will be the NACCAP fair which will be held in the PC Gym from 6pm-8pm. This event consists of representatives from Christian universities who are under the NACCAP organization. You can find colleges from California and across the country participating in this event.
Since representatives from all over the country are visiting the Valley again, this means Fresno Christian can host a college fair again! On Tuesday, October 4, FCS will be having a College and Career fair during lunch in the courtyard. Participating in this event are representatives from the military, community colleges, GCU, Fresno State, NACCAP colleges, Paul Mitchell, Hume’s Joshua Program, and so much more.
Since some of our FCS students do not have transportation to attend off campus fairs, we are bringing the college fair to them! FCS is inviting all middle and high school students to come out to the courtyard and learn about the many post high school options available to them.
