Fresno Christian varsity cheerleaders earned 3rd place in Division II during the CIF Invitational at Buchanan High School, Dec. 5. The Eagles competed against Clovis North, Clovis East, Clovis West, and Sanger.
Cheerleaders had learned their full comp routine a week before the competition which added an extra element of stress for many. While performing, the music shut off but the team kept pushing through with zero deductions to finish.
During awards, Fresno Christian varsity received 4th place. Cheer coach, Hope Villines challenged the judge’s score sheets knowing how well the team performed. Judges realized the mistake, made the change, and announced a third-place finish for the Eagles after the competition.
This is the first performance of the competition season for the ladies. This team will go on to compete in three more competitions with the next one Jan. 21 at the CIF Central Section championships. Practices leading up to this competition started in June with special comp practices continuing through the winter season.
