The road to Central Section, Division IV, volleyball championship is close at hand for the lady Eagles who are currently ranked second with a 35-10 overall in the West Sequoia league. Repeating their journey from the 2022 season, which lead them into round one of state championships to end in defeat against the Bear River Bruins .
Semi finals will take place at FCS , Tuesday, Oct 31, 6 p.m. against Golden West Trailblazers who are currently ranked No. 11. Ranked first in the league is the Mammoth Huskies who will host the championship if they win semi finals.
Coach Steve Guglielmana who has traditionally coached boys, has gained new experiences coaching girl’s volleyball.
“We feel very confident in the work that we have been putting in and that it will transfer into our matches,” Guglielmana said. “The strengths of this particular team is that they are a very physical team but also that the 42 young ladies who are a part of this program are a very close group and something special is happening in the FCS gym this fall volleyball season.”
The volleyball season has had many reasons to celebrate as the team of 14 grows to 18 for playoffs.

Sophomore Jordyn DeGroot has played two years alongside her sister Captain Faith DeGroot. This season her familiar position was challenged.
“My coaches really believe in me and they threw me in as a setter replacing someone who was hurt,” DeGroot said. “The position stuck with me and my coaches continue to encourage me. It’s a good fit, I love the position.”
Who needs to go trick or treating when you can come support the Eagles. This could be the last home game as championship could be all the way in Mammoth.
