Behind every student is a teacher with a goal to help students succeed and behind every teacher is a life outside the classroom. These lives are a big piece of the puzzle that make up who they are. If teaching is their Superman, then life outside the classroom is their Clark Kent, a hidden identity many students do not see.
To get to know some of the FCS staff better, we asked English and Bible teacher Diego Alas, Yearbook Advisor and English teacher Melanie Portwood and Vice Principal Scott Falk to play a game of “This or That” where they choose between two options to reveal more about their personalities and preferences.
This is Diego Alas’ second year teaching at Fresno Christian. After stepping into the English 10 position in the second semester of last year, Alas now teaches freshman and sophomore Bible in addition to English 10. One of his favorite hobbies is fishing and going to the mountains.
English 9 teacher Melanie Portwood, loves a good pun, and shares one daily with her students. Also the high school Yearbook Advisor, Portwood enjoys helping her students learn and grow in their skills.
Vice President Scott Falk has been working at Fresno Christian for 23 years. He can be seen around campus with a Dr, Pepper in his hand. Falk collects bobble heads and figures, including ones of his favorite Disney characters, Buzz Lightyear and Mr. Incredible.
