Fresno Christian band performs in the annual Spring Festival Concert, before heading down to Southern California for the Anaheim Heritage Festival, March 5.
Led by director Lindsay Clarno, the band enters a new level of organization. In the past, first year band students looking to learn how to play an instrument had to join the Eagle Band while experienced musicians were placed in the FC Band. In the new format, Junior High players are placed in Eagle Band, while High School players are placed in FC Band, regardless of skill level. The most experienced players are given the opportunity to play in the Jazz Ensemble, a class that meets before school for practice every day.
The night begins with the Jazz Ensemble performing “Splanky.” Sisters Chara Jacobs (‘27) and Elissa Jacobs (‘29) have featured solos in this song. Following the opener, Jazz also performs “A Touch of Honey” and “La Noche Del Burrito Picante.”
Next on the order is the Eagle Band, or Junior High musicians. They perform two pieces, “Infinity” and “Inferno.” “Inferno” is dubbed as a team favorite, as Clarno regularly finds the group performing this song together before their class starts.
FC Band is the last team to perform, starting with “March of the Belgian Paratroopers.” Following the opener, the band plays “Our Kingsland Spring” and “Canticum.”
At the end of the night, all three Fresno Christian bands join together to play one last song for the audience, “Blessings.”
This concert serves as a preview for the collection of songs that the FC Band will play when they travel to Orange County for the Anaheim Heritage Festival on March 12.
