Farmersville shut out by ground game

The rushing attack was the name of the game for the Eagles in their 39-0 victory over Farmersville on Sept. 12. With an offensive attack based almost entirely on rushing, the Eagles led 13-0 after the first quarter and never looked back.

“My plan was to come out passing the ball,” Jon Hall, head coach, said, “but our first two series were set up by turnovers deep in their territory. I didn’t want to abandon the passing game but by the time we were up by four touchdowns I decided to abandon the passing and use the chance to get some subs in.”

Halfback Nick Crawford’s, ’04, 32-yard run to open the second quarter put the Eagles up 19-0 and was part of his 65 overall yards rushing.

“I had a good game,” Crawford said. “Our line did a great job opening up holes and I just ran through them. On the punt return I got some key blocks and turned on the jets once I saw a clear path to the end zone.”

Crawford extended the Eagles lead to 32-0 with a 68-yard punt return for a touchdown in the third. The Eagles defense also rose to the occasion, allowing only four first downs and 42 total yards. The Eagles next play at Riverdale on Sept. 18 and are 2-1 overall.
