Pick a card, roll the dice, and solve the mystery at “Family Game Night,” Fresno Christian’s 39th Annual Homecoming, Oct. 7-11. The week’s agenda is filled to the brim with preliminary festivities including creative float building, dress-up days, competitive princess pageants and an epic royal lip-sync battle. These events build anticipation toward Friday night, when the Eagles will face rival team, the Sierra Chieftains, on the football field and the royal court will strut the red carpet during half time. This year, the FC community has made it a priority to fundraise for Central Valley Honor Flight; the nonprofit organization has made it their mission to honor surviving war veterans by flying them to Washington D.C. to see the memorials in person.
As Homecoming week kicks into high gear, students anticipate Friday’s festivities by planning outfits with their friends and cheering on the homecoming court during the lunch hour. Additionally, with two days until floats have to be completed and ready to present to the FC community, classes work diligently to put the final touches on their creations.
Dress Up Day: Game of Life
Today featured the ‘Game of Life’ dress-up theme, where each class represented a different stage of life. Freshmen dressed as babies, Sophomores as teens, Juniors as adults, and Seniors as the elderly, bringing creativity and fun to the halls.
Jacob Pimentel, a four-year leadership student, understands the importance of appealing to the student demographic with homecoming themes. FC leadership uses a simple voting process to ensure the best of ideas for the biggest week on campus each year.
“Once we have our theme for homecoming, we break off into ‘senates’ divided by grade. Each senate comes up with four to five ideas that we believe our class would enjoy for Monday-Thursday,” Pimentel said. “Once we have a top four, we come up with a way to make sure Friday, which is always Spirit Day, correlates with this year’s theme.”

Princess Pageant
In the FC gym, the excitement continued with a fun twist on the traditional princess pageant. Instead of the usual formalities, the girls participated in a lively game of life-sized Hungry Hungry Hippos, racing to collect as many “marbles” as possible. The crowd cheered as each princesses brought their competitive spirit and sense of humor to the event.
Using tablecloths to drag their classmates across the gym floor, the princesses try to collect as many balls from a centrally located basket as possible and then are dragged back to their team in a fast-paced relay game.
Blake Bay, ‘27, was not particularly impressed with the game, although it was considered a campus favorite when it was played during the ‘23 Spring Rally.
“Well, we didn’t do very good,” Bay said. “And honestly, I thought that it was kind of boring to watch.”

Sophomore Float
The sophomore class has collaborated over the last several weeks, working diligently to bring their mysterious Clue-themed float to life. Creating a float is no easy task, as they have to carefully construct a rig that will catch the eyes of the FC community on Friday night. Going up against the other grades, the competitive spirit is heating up on campus.
Ethan Klassen, ‘27, admits that last year’s float was a bit of a struggle, however, he is confident that the sophomore class will redeem themselves.
“Setting everything up, watching the idea come together and figuring out the logistics has been difficult, but things have come together,” Klassen said. “I believe we will get first place no doubt about it.”
Honor Flight
Throughout the 39th Annual Homecoming week, the Fresno Christian community is working towards raising funds for the nonprofit organization Honor Flight. The money donated will go directly to the Central Valley Honor Flight branch, which flies local veterans to Washington D.C to visit the memorials dedicated to them free of charge. The Feather has been highlighting individual veterans who had the opportunity to travel on the 29th Central Valley Honor Flight. Tomorrow’s activities are headlined by a ‘Connect Four’ dress-up day which encourages students to match in duos, trios, or even quartets. The kings and queens will be competing at lunch with a game of ‘Castle crashers’.
Come out and cheer on the FC Eagles to a victory this Friday, Oct. 11th at the 39th Annual Homecoming. Gates open at 6 p.m., princess candidates will be introduced at 6:30 p.m., kickoff at 7 p.m. and senior king and queen introductions and the crowning of the 39th Annual Homecoming court winners will be held at halftime.
