FC HS students get out their green to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day, March 17.
Legend has it that St. Patrick used a three-leaf shamrock to explain the Christian Holy Trinity.
Fun factoid: There are nine times more people with Irish ancestry in the United States than all of Ireland.
As a young boy, Patrick was kidnapped by Irish raiders who sold him as a slave. He spent several years in Ireland herding sheep and learning about their culture. At the age of 22, he managed to escape, and made his way to a monastery in England. After spending a huge part of his life converting the pagans of Ireland to Christianity, St. Patrick passed away on March 17, 461 AD.
Bonus fact: Your odds of finding a four-leaf clover are about 1 in 10,000.
