WEEKLY CAMPUS ANNOUNCEMENTS FOR May 2 – May 6

The Feather brings its readers weekly FC campus announcements published the first day of each week. This week coverage is from May 2 – May 6, 2016.

Campus administration is looking for an elementary girls volleyball coach. If interested, contact Jon Penberthy or at the school, 559-299-1695, ext 108.

As the sports schedule gets underway, consider supporting JH and HS athletes at our home games. The week’s athletic events are listed in the weekly announcements below.

Sports Events the Week of 5/2 – 5/6

Monday

JH and HS spring sports pictures in FC gym

JH girls softball takes pictures after lunch and then depart for game at Tioga, 2:45 p.m.

JH tennis takes pictures at 1:40 p.m. and then departs for match vs Baird, 3 p.m.

All other teams dismissed at 3 p.m. to take pictures.

HS cheer clinic 6 p.m. in PC gym

Tuesday

HS varsity boys golf in WSL championship at Lemoore GC, 11 a.m.

HS varsity girls softball at Parlier, 4 p.m. Dismissal at 2 p.m.

HS varsity boys baseball at Parlier, 4 p.m. Dismissal at 2 p.m.

HS cheer clinic 6 p.m. in PC gym

Wednesday

JH girls softball vs SCandinavian at 2:45 p.m. Dismissal at 2 p.m.

JH tennis at Cooper, 3 p.m. Dismissal at 1:45 p.m.

HS track at All Sierra Championship Meet in Fowler, 3 p.m. Dismissal at lunch

Thursday

JH track at Edison, 2:45 p.m. Dismissal at 1:45 p.m. FC is co-hosting this event. HS track members expected to assist in event.

HS varsity girls softball vs Caruthers at 4 p.m. No early dismissal.

HS varsity boys tennis vs Orosi at 4 p.m. in WSL tennis playoffs.

Friday

HS varsity boys baseball vs Caruthers at 4 p.m. Dismissal at 2:10 p.m.

National Day of Prayer

The National Day of Prayer is this Thursday, May 5. FC will be having a convocation including all grades K-12. All students will meet in the sanctuary and will celebrate this day.

National Teacher Appreciation Day

National Teacher Appreciation Day is a day set apart to thank and acknowledge all the teachers across the country, May 3. FC teachers will receive a gift and a note written by students.

T.E.A. Talks

A new group called TEA Talks has formed on campus and is lead by juniors Hannah Nale and Jennifer King. It is open to all HS girls and is meant to build friendships in Christ while encouraging others and learning about the Word.

Writing Club

The club provides a space at school for students to explore interests in creative writing. For more information, contact club leaders Emily Ladd, Skyler Lee, or Nicole Hudecek.

Belleza Back from New York

FC ensemble, or Belleza, returns from their trip to New York, May 3. They, along with other top music groups, performed at Carnegie Hall.

Cinco de Mayo

The Annual Cinco de Mayo lunch put on by the CSF club is this Thursday! Don’t miss out on this chance to enjoy some great Mexican food, music, and a piñata while supporting the CSF club. $5 for a burrito or nachos, drink, and dessert! CSF members and teachers will get a $2 off discount! (CSF members may not go off campus for lunch on this day).

Elementary Choir in Santa Cruz

FC’s elementary student choir will be traveling to Santa Cruz to perform in a concert, May 7.

Break the Barriers

FC is looking for students to volunteer for Break the Barriers on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Volunteer work will count for hours toward CSF.

Brother to Brother

Brother to Brother t-shirts are available to be purchased. They will cost $7 which can be given to Vicky Belmont in the high school office. There will be a training session for older brothers, May 3.

Sister to Sister

There will be an on-campus training session for older sisters, May 3. Next week, all members will have an end of the year luncheon to wrap up the year, May 10

ASB President

Hannah Nale, ’17, has been elected as the ASB preident of the campus student body.

Spring Formal Pictures

Spring formal pictures can be picked up in the high school office starting Tue. April 26.

AP Tests

AP tests will be held the first and second weeks of May. Students should plan to arrive 15 minutes early. For test dates and times, contact Michelle Warkentine.

Summer Programs Hosted at College Campuses

Now is the time to register for summer programs hosted at college campuses around the nation. Attending a summer program can be an amazing experience and add value to your college application. If you are a 10th or 11th grader and are interested in attending a program please contact Michelle Warkentin. Experiences range from ecology and engineering programs all the way to art and fashion programs.

Juniors

The next SAT test is on June 4, the registration deadline is May 5. If the deadline is missed you can still register  for the test’s late registration with a fee at https://collegereadiness.collegeboard.org/sat

The next ACT test is on June 11, the registration deadline is May 6. You can register online at www.actstudent.org a

 

Seniors-ELM/EPT test

Seniors who have applied to a CSU, don’t forget to sign up for your ELM/EPT test if you do not meet the minimum testing/class eligibility requirements. To sign up log in here. The April test at Fresno State is only available for Fresno Unified students, so if you have not yet signed up you will need to register for the May test or an upcoming April test at another CSU campus. When you are registering you will be asked for your State Student ID Number. This number is 0000000000 (10 zeros). If you have any questions feel free to contact Michelle Warkentin.

Drama performance of “Hello Dolly”

Kyle Dodson’s drama class is putting on the musical production of Hello Dolly!, May 17. Tickets and times will be announced soon.

ESL help for International Students

Tamara Hill will be available in the library on Mondays and Tuesdays from 3-4 p.m. for ESL support for our international students. Any questions can be directed to Hill.

ON Campus Lunch Menu

JH/HS Leadership will offer lunch throughout the year on Thursday and Friday.
