Celebrating the heart of education

Teachers, one of the most important influences in our lives, mold us into who we become by building a foundation of our knowledge. Their actions and efforts set students up for future success as doctors, engineers, lawyers, and even teachers. Educator’s impact on students go beyond the realm of the classroom, inspiring and encouraging them to strive for excellence in all aspects in their life.

Fun fact: There are 3.7 million teachers in the U.S including private and boarding schools!

Fun facts you may not know about some of FC’s amazing teachers! (The Feather)

In 1984 National Teachers Appreciation Week (NTAW) became an official national holiday celebrating educators all around the country. Every first full week of May is dedicated to take time and recognize the teachers that leave a lasting impression on our lives.

This year’s week of celebrations kicks off on Monday, May 6th lasting through the 10th. Here on campus, the FCS teachers and staff will be celebrated with daily gifts to make their day brighter.

“Thank you Ms. Cerda for challenging me and pushing me to the best of my abilities.”

Willow Gatlin, ‘27

“I’m thankful for Mr.Polston. When I need help with my schoolwork or am not ready for a test coming up he helps me. What I appreciate most is that he always makes time for me.  When I feel the need to talk to him about anything he is willing to listen. He has been the best teacher ever, and I am truly blessed to have him as my teacher. ”

Emma Wisley, ‘27

“Mrs. Manzo, my first and second grade teacher. She made school fun and made an effort to make a personal connection with me. She passed away about a year ago but I will never forget her.”

Camden Breshears, ‘27

“Dear Mrs. Breshears, thank you for everything you do. You teach math amazingly and it’s easy to understand. I hope you can keep doing what you are doing.”

Allison Inks, ‘27

“The teacher I’d like to thank is Mrs.Vanderkooi for always being so patient with me and helpful! She’s one of the biggest encouragers and I wouldn’t have made it this far without her.”

Zoey Aguirre, ‘27

“I would like to thank Mrs. Larson for teaching me how to be a leader in God’s eyes and to show kindness to everyone.”

Xyra Baranda, ‘27

Mrs.Clarno–

She has made a great impact on my life because she’s taught me a new perspective on music than just playing the notes written on the paper. Mrs.Clarno is also so encouraging and entertaining. I’m glad she is apart of my life and for the new point of view for music.”

Kamryn Penberthy, ‘27

“Thank you Mr.Fuller for always encouraging me and helping me be my best self. Thank you for all the Father Thomas’ too, they are very encouraging.”

Blake Bay, ‘27

Mr.Falk always gives me hugs. He is the goat!”

Jayson Morgan, ‘27

“Mrs.Rachel Owens. She was my 5th and 8th grade teacher. No matter how often I would get distracted, she would never get mad. Favorite teacher ever.”

Tryphena Gunawan, ‘24

“I’m thankful for Profesora! I took Spanish 1, 2, and 3, and while the material was definitely challenging at times, I always appreciated Profesora’s positive attitude and how she always helped us when we asked her for help. Learning a language is no easy feat, but Profesora definitely made it easier. I also love how obvious her passion for teaching Spanish is. It is really great to have a teacher that loves the subject they teach! Being in her classes helped me learn Spanish and while I am certainly far from fluent right now, I love being able to understand and catch onto bits and pieces when I can, like from movies or books. I look forward to learning more Spanish in the future and am thankful for Profesora and the foundation she has given me! Also, her dog, Oreo, is super cute.”

Boomer Mericle, ’24
