Following the tragic death of former FC student, Molly Griffin, Molly Day began as a way for the Griffins to remember Molly’s good heart and service to the community around her. This year Molly Day will be celebrated on Griffin’s birthday, Aug. 26. Molly Day will be celebrated at Clovis Hills Outdoor Pavilion from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m..

Student leadership adviser, Robert Foshee sees Molly Day as a way to spread positivity and love around campus. He hopes that the day will bring happiness to everyone participating. Foshee also believes that Molly Day is a good thing for the community because it fulfills what God tells us to do.

“I just think there’s so much bad news out there a lot of the time,” Foshee said. “I think it’s good to see the impact you can have in a positive way and to show people that love is important in the community. Whether it’s something small or big, God calls us to love others.”

Molly Day impacted Sydney Belmont, ‘17, by reminding her to always find a way to serve others. Belmont sees events like Molly Day bringing the community closer together.

“You can support Molly Day by going to the local celebration for Molly and by just doing nice things for the community like how Molly did,” Belmont said. “These events are important to the community because it shows that after bad things happen, we still support everyone and it is a good reminder to always do good wherever you are. It has reminded me that there is always something good you can do for someone else.”

Roman Endicott, ‘18, feels that Molly Day is a good reminder to give back to the community. Last year, Endicott and his sister payed for a stranger’s lunch to celebrate Molly Day. Endicott sees Molly Day as a good way for people to try and help others in new ways.

“Molly day is an opportunity for everyone to be able to step out of their comfort zone and find opportunities to help people,” Endicott said. “I see Molly Day as a way to rally people into the idea that being good is something that we should do. Last year, my sister and I were at Wendy’s and we payed for the person’s lunch in front of us as an act of kindness.”

Student body president, Hannah Nale sees Molly Day as a way to glorify God through her actions. Nale participates in Molly Day by praying for others and being kind to them.

“Molly Day is all about being kind,” Nale said. “You can go through the hallways smiling and giving people high-fives for fun. I haven’t done anything specific in the past, but this year I might give something to someone. Praying is the best way for me to support Molly Day. It has impacted me by reminding me that you’re not guaranteed every day, so it’s really important to always be working to glorify God. Events like this are a way to shine the Lord’s light on the community.”

Throughout Molly Day, the Griffins encourage everyone to commit random acts of kindness to anyone around them. In this way, they hope that others will carry on Molly’s legacy in a positive light. One way to help raise awareness of Molly Day is to use the hashtag, #LiveLikeMolly, on social media throughout the day as you participate.
