FC Insider: Eagles look for a back-to-back Valley championship

[/media-credit] Blogger Slater Wade shares his predictions for the Eagles CIF 8-man Valley championship game this week, Nov. 10.

    Football team hosts Alpaugh

FC football is going to another Valley championship game for the fourth year in a row. They look to improve their championship record from 1-2 to 2-2 and add another ring to their collection. Last year the Eagles defeated the Riverdale Cowboys, 63-6, to win the CIF 8-man Valley championship.

The Eagles won their first matchup against Alpaugh, 57-6, last week and look to take them on again on the FC field, Nov. 10. The team will open up their playbook and use every trick in a final hurrah.

The Buffalos are a strong team coming into the championship game, 6-3, with a 2-1 league record. With playmakers like Isaiah Mercado, ‘19, and Edward Aguirre, ‘17, holding the team up they are expected to get the ball however they can. And their defense is not afraid to hit and hit hard. The Buffalos will want to shut down the middle, lead by Andrew Navarrette, ‘17, who already has 100 plus tackles.

The Eagles are 9-1 overall and with outside runs from Slater Wade, ‘17, and long pass combos from Tyler Villines, ‘18, to Tyler Vanderlinden, ‘17, the Eagles will come away with a victory.

On offense Villines will dominate through the air and make plays with his legs with around 170 all purpose yards and 5 Tds. Since it is unclear who the starting QB for the buffalos is, because of injury, I predict 50 yards passing.

[/media-credit] Wade predicts that the Eagles will rule the game through the air.

I believe the Eagles will take the ground game and Wade will get 160 all-purpose yards and 3 TDs compared to Aguirre’s 25 rushing yards. Altogether the Eagles will have 360 offensive yards to the Buffalo’s 80 yards.

Defensively linebacker Daniel Ayres, ‘17, will again shut down the Buffalo running game and force them to pass where Eagles defensive back Julian Castro, ‘17, will get his first interception of the year and run it back for 6 points.

With the game getting out of hand look for Eagle players like Tyler Stotts, ‘20, and Kyle Friesen, ‘19, to make big plays on both sides of the ball. The Eagles will get their second straight Valley championship with a final score of 62-6.

Come out and support Eagle football, Nov. 10. Game time is 7 p.m. All spectators are expected to pay to get in as per CIF playoff regulations.

    Game ticket prices:
    Adults – $8
    Students – $5
    Seniors (65 yr+) – $5
Children under 5 years – free
