“December 7, 1941, a date which will live in infamy….” Franklin D. Roosevelt said that cold morning after the attack on Pearl Harbor, Dec. 7.
This day, 75 years ago, the U.S. naval base at Pearl Harbor was assaulted by a swarm of 360 Japanese warplanes at 7:55 a.m. Over 2,400 Americans were lost in the 110 minutes of fighting and nearly 20 Naval ships were destroyed. (According to History.com)
President Roosevelt came to Congress the next morning and asked Congress to declare war, launching the U.S. in to World War II.
Today is a good day to acknowledge those who have served our country in remembrance of the fallen.
