Meet lifer Matthew Tanaka! ‘Lifer’ is a term given to students who have attended Fresno Christian kindergarten through 12th grade. Eight students from the class of 2017 have been attributed this title.

Senior Matthew Tanaka shows off a pair of his favorite shoes, Feb. 7. One of Tanaka’s favorite hobbies is buying and collecting shoes. His favorite shoe brand is Jordan and prefers to buy them from Eastbay.

The senior considers buying shoes more of a passion than a hobby. The reasoning behind the passion is the culture created around it.

“I wish I had all the money in the world to get all the shoes I want,” Tanaka said. “I don’t have all the money so I try to keep my shoes in the best condition possible, this means using a ton of shoe cleaner. I’m not the type of person to buy them and then go put them on a shelf.”
