Got news? Call the feather hotline 1-888-GOT-NEWS, (not a valid number). News Engagement Day takes place once a year, the first Tuesday of October, across the nation, encouraging students to engage in news.
The Association for Education in Journalism and Mass Communication (AEJMC) first launched #newsengagementday in 2014. The Feather Online has participated through articles, photos, videos and various social media platforms since the day’s inception.
The Feather hotline takes a comical approach to one way the team gathers news. In the video, Feather staffers accept multiple phones calls of outlandish news using vintage cell phones the news gathering process is exaggerated.
For a more serious approach to #NewsEngagementDay, read Jacob Hyatt’s “News Engagement Day emphasizes student involvement” and News Engagement Day 2017. The Feather Online staff hopes campus students and community supporters engage with their campus paper. Please use the right menu bar to submit article ideas, photos, letters to the editor an/or columns. Readers can also email The Feather, sending articles, photos and their opinions to Feather editors.
Thank you campus students, parents, teachers, staff and community followers for their support for The Feather Online (thefeather.com), its social media offerings (see below), and its reporters, editors, photographers and videographers. We’d love to hear from you all, continuing to engage with you during the school year.
