Each year FC leadership team sponsors an Operation Christmas Child (OCC) box drive with hopes of reaching as many children as possible with gifts. Associated Student Body president Roman Endicott, ’18, challenged the student body to bring 400 gift-packed boxes to ship to children across the world.

Regardless of how an OCC box is made, one thing Samaritan’s Purse ensures is that every package contains a translated booklet explaining the Gospel. For children who have never received a gift, this simple gesture can be life-changing.

According to the Samaritan’s Purse website, shoebox gifts should contain a quality ‘wow’ item such as a stuffed animal, soccer ball with pump or clothing items that will capture the child’s attention. Colored pencils and school supplies are also encouraged. Students should not include items that are perishable, war-related or liquids. Samaritan’s Purse asks that each box come with a seven dollar donation to cover shipping costs.

The shoeboxes help spread the Gospel and love of Jesus to children in need. Empty shoeboxes can be picked up in Room 608 and turned in there after being filled with gifts. The collection deadline for OCC boxes is Nov. 9.
