Powder puff practice

[/media-credit] Senior Roman Endicott instructs his team in preparation for the Powder Puff game, March 23.

High school girls practice for the annual powderpuff game, March 19.

Each class creates plays and drills to prepare for the games. Opposed to ‘Powder Rough’ where girls coached boys volleyball; boys coach girls in flag football. In addition, boys make up a cheerleading squad to cheer on their classmates.

Each class practices at lunchtime, Monday through Thursday. Practices include drills with passing, catching, and blocking.

With seniors as the two-year reigning champs; freshmen will have to bring their A-game in order to defeat the upperclassmen. The victors move ahead to play the second game against the winning team of juniors and sophomores.

Football player and coach of the senior team, Tyler Villines, ’18, is hopefully for this year’s powderpuff games and another championship.

“I’m super excited for Powder Puff because it really does brings the girls in our class together,” Villines said. “It’s so cool seeing them unite and then go out and compete as a team, even if they don’t play the same sport throughout the year. They get a chance to really be a team as a class and it’s just so fun to see! And plus I hope someday to be a coach so being a coach for powder puff is good practice!”

An alternate bell schedule reserves the second half of the day for the event. The first game starts at 1 p.m. with the championship game afterwards, March 23.

Come join the student body by cheering on your lady Eagles! Parents are encouraged to support their students team.
