National Crayon Day

National+Crayon+Day
[/media-credit] Today we celebrate National Crayon Day, March 31.

Over Spring Break The Feather brings you a mini-series on unique national days. Happy National Crayon Day!

On this national day, March 31, the crayon is celebrated since its invention in 1903. It was invented first by cousins, Binney and Smith, who created the Crayola branch of colored crayons for children.

Research has shown that a crayon is one of the most recognizable scents even by adults, with coffee aroma just ahead of it.

In today’s age of quick manufacturing, 650 crayons are produced each minute. That is roughly 936,000 crayons a day!

There are 120 different crayola colors that can be used to color with.

To read more, or check out other national days, visit National Day Calendar.

Be sure to also check out The Feather’s series on senior highlights, beginning over Spring Break. Read the first post in the series highlighting Trip Batliner.
