AP Literature: the calm before the storm

[/media-credit] First period AP literature and composition organize a breakfast party to relax the final day before upcoming AP final exam, May 8.

AP literature and composition class celebrates the end of the year with a breakfast party during first period, May 8. The party is aimed to provide a relaxing class period before the final AP exam, May 9.

Students bring in waffles, donuts, croissants and chocolate milk for the festivities.

After preparing all year, the AP literature and composition class awaits the final AP exam. The class has studied a variety of topics such as poetry, short stories, song lyrics and famous novels. Individually and as a group, they then analyzed and discussed the previous topics.

Andrea Donaghe, AP literature teacher, shares her thoughts on this year’ class, and her expectations for the exam results.

“This AP class exceeded my expectations this year,” Donaghe said. “Each student is so busy and carrying full academic loads, that knowing the amount of work each of them did for AP Literature and Composition overwhelms and impresses me. Everyone did a tremendous amount of work. I will say that I believe everyone was all very prepared and worked very hard. This class is very different than other AP Literature classes I have taught. Everyone participated and took assignments, discussion, participation seriously. The class needed to enjoy comfort food, unwind and not think about the test.”

The test begins early Wednesday morning, beginning promptly at 8 a.m. The test continued for about four hours, ending around lunch time.

Students now wait until July to receive their exam scores.

Other AP classes such as AP Euro and AP biology are next to take their final exam.

If you are interested in joining an AP class next year contact AP teachers, Andrea Donaghe, Scott Bucher, Kori Friesen or Karen Walters. Class offered next year include, AP language, AP calculus, AP biology and AP European.
