As students clean out their lockers in preparation for the end of school, seniors look forward to college and students anticipate a break. It’s the last week of school!

Seniors returned from the senior trip, May 18. They visited multiple attractions in the Southern California area including watching ‘School of Rock’ at Pantages Theater in Hollywood, a trip to Koki’s Teppanyaki, rides at Disneyland and time around the Santa Monica area.

Reflecting on his last day of school, May 15, second year student, Daniel Avila, ‘18, shares some memories and plans for the future.

“It is crazy knowing that I am done with high school all four years and today is the last day,” Avila said. “I am going to go home and sleep but most importantly I am going to be looking for a job. One of my most memorable moments was definitely being a leader this year on campus and to be an example to all the underclassmen.”

Starting on Monday the final week commences with teachers finishing up finals and collecting late work. On the 21st through the 23rd of May, seniors have the day off and are not required to go to school. The rest of the student body will be completing finals, May 21-22, with end of year awards and final chapel set for May 23-24.

Third year student, Adalyn Richardson, ‘21, speaks up about how her year went and what she is looking forward to in the next school year.

“I am looking forward to an awesome sophomore year,” Richardson said. “Being involved in chemistry and U.S. history is exciting to look forward to. I enjoyed how this year brought us into a new chapter of our lives and it’s made me more prepared and a step closer to college.”

Other activities occurring around the end of the year are the high school graduation, 7 p.m., in the Peoples Church auditorium and yearbook signing on the last day of school, May 24. The awards assembly will take place on the same day from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. in the GL Johnson chapel. Before that however will be the senior graduation practice.

Students should make sure to bring a pen in order to sign yearbooks in the main room of the SMC. Students can see a copy of the last week schedule on the office window or on The Feather Twitter feed.
