Canned food drive

[/media-credit] Elementary students donate for the annual canned food drive, Nov. 27.

The annual Fresno Christian canned food drive officially began on, Nov. 13. Students are encouraged to donate cans of food to benefit Pinedale Community Fellowship. High students are to bring any cans donated to their designated teachers.

Freshmen bring them to Rob Foshee in room 608, sophomores to Aubri Foster in room 604, juniors to Kori Friesen in room 602 and the seniors bring them to Kyle Dodson in room 603 or Andrea Donaghe’s room 601.

Leadership advisor Robert Foshee encourages students to donate cans to the food drive.

“This is a good opportunity for students to help people in need right here in our own community,” Foshee said. “Giving these food items to the people of the Pinedale Community Fellowship will make their Christmas season a little brighter. My favorite part about this drive is when students and I can meet with Pastor Richard Amparano and pray for his ministry and the community receiving these goods.”

The cans that are donated all go to directly to Pinedale Community Fellowship, they are then dispersed around the city to people in need. The leadership hopes to collect as many cans as possible to aid those that could use it. Fresno Christian has been participating in the canned food drive since 2012 and raised over 1600 cans. The goal for this year would be to get around 2000 cans or more. There will be awards provided to the class that brings in the most cans for elementary, junior high and high school.

Angelica Escalera, ’19, donated six cans and is hoping others do the same, shares her favorite reason for being a part of the food drive.

“I donated because I know what it is like to struggle and by donating we lessen others struggles,” Escalera said. “I donated six cans; I encourage others to donate and realize how much we can help others by doing something so simple.”
