Fresno Christian high school and junior high compete in the annual CIF Central Section Cheer and Dance Championships at Buchanan High School, Dec. 1. Coach Hope Villines and Rayna Endicott bring 40 cheerleaders to the annual event.
The high school team is led by head coach Villines in their 4th year of returning to competition cheer, receiving fourth place prize in Division II.
Results for Division II are as follows:
First: Clovis High School
Second: Sanger High School
Third: Clovis North High School
Fourth: Fresno Christian High School
Fifth: St. Joseph High School
This was the first in two years that FC has competed in this specific competition. Last year the team was not prepared at the time to be able to compete.
Sophomore Jewel Chandler shares her experience at the CIF competition.
“This competition was a great experience,” Chandler said. “I loved to see all of our hard work pay off. It was the best feeling to come off the mat and know we hit all of our stunts. I was nervous at first but after we ran out on the mat, I knew I was going to do good.”
In their third year of competing the junior high team, led by Coach Endicott, take home the third place prize against five other teams in the junior high division.

First: Granite Ridge Middle School
Second: Washington Academic Middle School
Third: Fresno Christian Junior High
Fourth: Alta Sierra Middle School
Fifth: Glacier Point Middle School
Sixth: Kastner Middle School
The next competitions for the junior high and varsity teams will be at the Clovis Pep Classic at Clovis High, Jan. 26, and The Clovis West Showcase at Clovis West High, Feb. 9. Be sure to come and support your lady eagles!
