Boys tennis officially kicks off their season with a current record of two wins and one loss counting non league matches, Feb. 27.

Eagles have defeated Firebaugh, 5-4, in league and Sunnyside, 6-3. D1 Clovis East defeated D5 FC, 9-0, in non league.

Head coach Robert Foshee and assistant coach Daniel “Bulldog” Jessing lead the group of boys. This duo has been coaching boys tennis together for several years.

The team consists of twenty players, five of which are seniors. Class of 2019 leaders include seniors Alexander Rurik, Reese Brown, John Monke, Landon Goldsborough and Griffin Schmidt.

Due to the large amount of participating students, the group is split into two teams: freshmen and varsity.

Rankings are as follows:

No. 1 singles: senior Reese Brown

No. 2 singles: senior John Monke

No. 3 singles: senior Alexander Rurik

No. 4 singles: sophomore Mark Pimentel

No. 5 singles: junior Braden Bell

No. 6 singles: senior Griffin Schmidt

No. 2 doubles: alternating

No. 3 doubles: junior Logan Lewis and sophomore Kyle Clem

Practices are held Monday-Friday, from approximately 3:30 p.m. to 5:15 p.m.
