Professional journalists speak upon fake news

[/media-credit] Feather journalists interview professional journalists Sewell Chan, Stephen Engelberg, Juliet Williams, and Scott Wilson, Feb. 27.

Sophomore journalists Morgan Parker, Addison Schultz, Bryce Foshee and Vijay Stephen meet for  exclusive interviews with professional journalists Stephen Engelberg, Sewell Chan, Juliet Williams, Scott Wilson, along with the Tatarian Chair Tim Drachlis at the Fresno State Satellite Student Union, Feb. 26.

Senior editor Addison Schultz interviews keynote speaker Stephen Engelberg, the Editor in Chief for ProPublica. Engelberg speaks about fighting fake news in today’s world of journalism. Before becoming the Editor in Chief for ProPublica, he was the managing editor of The Oregonian and worked 18 years at The New York Times as an editor and reporter.

Vijay Stephen, ’21, sits down with Scott Wilson, Senior National Correspondent for The Washington Post. Wilson has worked for The Post since 1977 and has experience in many positions. Serving as national editor, deputy assistant managing editor for foreign news and correspondent in Latin America as well as the Middle East before becoming the Senior National Correspondent.

Sophomore Bryce Foshee speaks with Sewell Chan, the Deputy Managing Editor for the Los Angeles Times. Chan graduated from Harvard College and received a masters degree in politics from Oxford. Throughout his career, he has worked for The Washington Post, New York Times, and currently works at the Los Angeles Times.

Sophomores Morgan Parker and Addison Schultz discuss fake news with Juliet Williams, Northern California News Editor for The Associated Press. Williams is located in San Francisco where she is the editor of the Northern California bureau.
