Both FC baseball and softball teams participate in a doubleheader competing against Tranquility and California City, March 16. Baseball defeats Tranquility, 13-12, and California City, 15-3. Softball wins against Tranquility, 10-9, and California City, 13-0.

Coached by David Davila, the softball team is, 6-1, in their pre-season. Currently, with two seniors, three juniors, four sophomores and two freshmen, this team welcomes old faces along with new.

Senior Macie Thompson scored her first home run of the season and feels good about how her team played in the doubleheader.

“Scoring my first home run was super exciting,” Thompson said. “It was super cool to run to home plate where my whole team was waiting for me and cheering me on! We all played really hard in the doubleheader even though we were tired in the morning and super sunburned in the afternoon. I think that the doubleheader was definitely great for our team. We got to bond in between the games and we also got to grow in our playing.”

Baseball is coached by Noah Heinz and currently, 8-2, in pre-season. In their doubleheader, the boys came back in the first game against Tranquility beating them by a close score of, 13-12.

Freshman Casey LaCroix believes his team has the ability to go far after doing well in the doubleheader.

“Our team did well in both of our games,” LaCroix said. “Though we were down by a lot at the beginning of the first game we came back and ended up with the dub. In our second game, we won through great defensive plays, our batting lineup, and great pitching. I expect great things for our team this season because I believe we have the talent and the ability to win ourselves a championship this year.”

Both baseball and softball will compete against Farmersville at the FC field, March 19. They begin at 3:30 p.m., so be sure to go and support your teams!
